A (Short) Break from Writing →
Yesterday, I didn’t write a blog post.
I thought about it. I felt the discipline monster rise up in me and tell me I had to. I debated, I contemplated, I worried some blogging ninja would hunt me down and teach me a lesson (they do exist, you now). I evern wrote a post on Sunday that I could easily have published yesterday.
But in the end, I decided not to.
I had a lot going on this...
scripturesketches asked: Dude - 2 Corinthians 5:21 is my favorite Bible verse. I find myself referencing it over and over again whenever I talk to people about Jesus.
Great minds, huh? ;)

Making an Impact →
In exactly six weeks from today, I will make the trek up to Chicago, lug my suitcase through the airport, wrangle eight exited and nervous college students and young adults through security checks, past food vendors and souvenir shops, lead them to our departure gate, make sure they don’t annoy each other too much, travel a total of 15 hours, cross 7 time zones, try (and fail) at...
There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal. Nations,...

I'm so Ted Mosby...
Ted: “Ok i’m going to say something out loud that I’ve been doing a pretty good job of not saying out loud lately: what you and Tony have, what I thought for an instant you and I had, what I know that Marshall and Lily have, I want that. I do. I kept waiting for it to happen and waiting for it to happen and I guess I’m just tired of waiting. And that is all i’m going...

1001 Books To Read Before You Die: This Is How... →
1001bookstoreadbeforeyoudie:
BoBooks were a highly valued commodity during antiquity and the middle ages. The list of important shit went, oh, something like this: Food, Gold, and Books. There are a lot reasons—one being that not many people could actually read during this time. The guarding of ideas for posterity, that is, the next generation, was paramount to a healthful society. This segues...

Dear Future Wife,
I’m at home doing laundry tonight. I hate doing laundry. I mean, I really hate doing laundry. There are few things I hate more than laundry.
If you promise to do the laundry, I promise I will always take the garbage out, keep the yard taken care of, make sure your car is always taken care of, help with the dishes, help keep the house clean and even cook you a gourmet meal once a week.
Oh,...

An Awkward Message... →
On Tuesday night, I began working on one of the seven messages I will be giving while in Czech this summer. That’s right, seven. In a two week time period.
I always overbook myself on these trips, and then run around frantically trying to put the messages together.
It’s not that I think I’m some great speaker, or that I alone am gifted enough to speak into the lives of these...

Thanks for the follow...
to all my new followers. I’ve gotten really bad at thanking people who have followed me. So…if you never got a thank you, consider this your personal thank you!

Dear Future Wife,
Tonight I listened to my married friends talk about marriage and babies and breast feeding (that was fun!) and sex. It really made me wish you were there. It’s never fun been the single guy in those conversations, but I did get hugs from three of the cutesy little girls you will ever meet (except our future kids of course).
So…yea, I think it’s about time our paths cross, so I...

I may fall apart but I will never lose the pieces. I will always see the picture that they create and my hands bloody cracked, trembling and tired will never stop fumbling to put them back together. -Tyler Knott Gregson-

Against Hope... →
Monday night, I was sitting out on my front porch, reading my Bible with the help of a handy flashlight app on my iPhone (my new favorite way to read the Word), when I ran across a verse that I cannot get out of my head:
“Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed…” — Romans 4:18
I’m amazed by the faith of Abraham. Even when everything looked hopeless, even...

"Dear Future Wife" Journal
Monday night, I made the decision to start writing a journal of letters to my future wife. I wish I could say that I made the decision solely on the desire to be an epic husband but, to be honest, it was to remind myself to have hope that I will find her. Still, it will be an EPIC wedding gift for her, one I hope that my future kids will read one day.
What I write in there is for her eyes only,...

In the Word →
The events, or I should say lack of events, this weekend really got me thinking.
As you are probably well aware, a group of fanatical Christians believed that this past Saturday was the day God set as the rapture. They believed that one man, Harold Camping, was able to determine the date and time when Christ would return for His church…
…something the bible clearly states that no...
